Day 7: Sydney

Today was our first real full day in Sydney, and we started if off right with a walk on the outside of Sydney Tower. They harness you in, and you get to walk out on a plexiglass platform and look down at the city for an incredible view. The tower stands 850 feet above the ground and it is incredibly windy when you go out on the walk...
Next we went on a slightly more calm tour of the amazing Sydney Opera House...
And stopped for a few pictures in a park they call "Mrs. McQuaries Chair." Supposedly the old governor's wife would sit in the park and look at the harbor, so now they have permanent spot carved for her in the rocks...

We finished up our day with a few sailing lessons on Syndey harbour, and navigated our 3 boats past the opera house and under Sydney Harbour bridge...

Right now the whole city of Sydney is bracing for World Youth Day, so tents are set up all over the city, and tons of roads are closed in preparation for the Pope. Tourists are in town from all over the world, and the excitement can really be felt all throughout the city. Luckily, we will be leaving for Canberra, though, before everything gets too crowded.
